A string of three shootings in the same Pasadena neighborhood on Sunday evening left one man seriously wounded, police said.

The first shooting was reported about 6:50 p.m. in the 1800 block of Navarro Avenue, Pasadena police Lt. John Mercado said.

Witnesses reported seeing a heavyset man on foot shooting at a passing car, Mercado said. Responding officers found “evidence of a shooting,” but no suspects or victims were located at the scene.

More gunfire erupted about 9:15 p.m. less than a half-mile to the south at Navarro Avenue and Howard Street, according to Mercado.

A man in his 40s was found at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds to both his legs, the lieutenant said. The injuries were considered to be major, but not life-threatening.

No suspect description was available.

“The victim was uncooperative and would not provide information,” Mercado said.

As officers were investigating the attack, they heard yet more gunfire about 10:20 p.m. emanating from a neighborhood about a half-mile to the northeast, he said.

They soon discovered that two cars had been struck by bullets as they drove through the intersection of North Fair Oaks Avenue and Tremont Street, Mercado said.

The drivers, who were both women in their 40s, were not hurt, he said.

They reported seeing two other cars speeding through the intersection about the time their cars were struck by gunfire, the lieutenant said. They did not know if they were the intended targets, or if their vehicles had been struck by stray bullets meant for someone else.

No further details were available.

The investigation continued Monday, and detectives were looking into any potential links between the shootings, Mercado added.

Another shooting was reported shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday in a nearby neighborhood at Belmont Avenue and Wyoming Street, Pasadena police Lt. Marcia Taglioretti said.

Witnesses reported seeing two cars speeding out of the neighborhood just after gunshots were fired, she said. Officers found spent bullet casings at the scene, but no signs of any victims or suspects.
