The Pasadena Public Health Department reported detecting 36 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, but no additional fatalities.
In total, Pasadena has seen 12,407 infections and 355 deaths since the start of the pandemic, according to city officials and records.
Over the past week, an average of 34 Pasadenans have contracted COVID-19 each day, records show.
Hospitalizations increased at Huntington Hospital, where 40 COVID-19 patients were being treated on Tuesday, up from 36 on Monday. Six of the patients were being treated in intensive care units, according to the institution.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reported 2,907 new infections and 30 new deaths, raising L.A. County’s pandemic totals to 1,355,698 cases of the virus and 24,935 deaths.
Officials listed 1,679 patients being treated for COVID-19 at county hospitals, with 24% of them in ICUs.
Tuesday’s daily test positivity rate fell to 3.5%, the L.A. County Department of Health said in a written statement.
Statewide, authorities reported 8,748 new infections and seven deaths had been added to the official tallies, raising the totals to 4,043,407 cases of COVID-19 and 64,201 fatalities.
The state’s weekly positivity rate inched down to 5.8%, according to California Department of Public Health data.
As of Tuesday, L.A. County accounted for 34% of California’s COVID-19 infections and 39% of the state’s associated deaths.
