Two separate traffic stops in Pasadena on Friday resulted in the seizure of three handguns and the arrest of four gang members, authorities said.

After pulling over a car with two people inside for a traffic violation about 8:10 a.m. at Fair Oaks Avenue and Woodbury Road, officers discovered the passenger was on parole for robbery, and both were members of a local street gang, according to Pasadena police Lt. Anthony Burgess.

A search of the car turned up a handgun in the center console, he said.

The driver, identified as Travis Flye, 29, of Eastvale, was booked on suspicion of weapon-related offenses, Burgess said.

The passenger, 29-year-old Joseph Jackson of Altadena, was arrested on suspicion of violating parole, he said.

The second arrest took place just before 8 p.m. at Arroyo Boulevard and Conostin Road, Burgess said.

Officers had been monitoring a gathering at nearby Brookside Park, “where known gang members were present,” the lieutenant said.

Police stopped a car with two people in it for a traffic violation after it was seen leaving the park, he said. The driver had no license.

Further investigation led officers to find one handgun in the driver’s front pocket and another beneath the passenger’s seat.

Both guns were unregistered, and both suspects were identified as gang members, Burgess said.

Maleik Potts, 24, of Palmdale and Lonail Derby, 37, of Sun Valley, were booked on suspicion of weapon-related offenses, officials said.

According to Los Angeles County booking records, Flye was released from custody after posting $35,000 bail. Jackson was being held without bail pending his initial court appearance.

Bail for Potts was set at $110,000 pending legal proceedings, while Derby was being held in lieu of $160,000 bail.
