Pasadena Public Health Department officials reported Tuesday that 67.9% of the city’s population over 12 years old has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, while 81.4% of residents have received one dose of a two-dose regimen.

Records showed 99.9% of residents 65 and older have been inoculated with at least one dose.

For the third day in a row, authorities detected a single COVID-19 infection in Pasadena, raising the overall total number of infections to 11,286. The number of pandemic fatalities has held stable at 346 for well over three weeks.

An average of 1.6 new infections was detected each day over the prior week, according to the PPHD.

Huntington Hospital reported treating seven COVID-19 patients as of Tuesday, with three of them requiring treatment in intensive care units.

Los Angeles County public health officials reported 191 new infections and 10 additional deaths on Tuesday, bringing the pandemic totals to 1,239,093 COVID-cases and 28,184 fatalities.

The county’s daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.4%, the L.A. County Department of Public Health said in a written statement

Officials reported 325 COVID-19 patients being treated at county hospitals, with 22% of them housed in ICUs.

Authorities reported Monday that over half of L.A. County residents over 16 years old have been fully vaccinated.

L.A. County Director of Public Health Barbara Ferrer reiterated that vaccination appears to be working, and urged members of the public to keep it up.

“The County continues to see progress in our metrics as our vaccination rate goes up,” Ferrer said. “Vaccinating as many residents as we can puts us in the strongest position possible when the risk of transmission goes up with full re-openings in a few weeks. The most powerful tool to keep cases and hospitalizations down and end this pandemic as we know it, are the vaccines.”

At the state level, authorities documented 618 new infections and eight deaths — fewer than the number of fatalities reported by L.A. County — raising the state’s totals to 3,674,662 known cases of the virus and 61,770 fatalities.

The statewide average positivity rate over the prior week held steady at 0.8%, according to California Department of Public Health data.

As of Tuesday, L.A. County accounted for 34% of California’s COVID-19 infections and 39% of the state’s deaths.
