An unidentified Pasadena man was shot in his upper left arm while driving near Marengo Avenue and Washington Boulevard early Sunday, but was uncooperative with the officers, police said.
Pasadena Police Chief Philip Sanchez said the officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area of Washington Boulvard and Marengo Avenue at about 12:25 a.m.
The 25-year-old victim, described as black and associated with a gang, was located sitting on the southwest corner of Washington Boulevard and Marengo Avenue with a non-life threatening gunshot wound, Sanchez said.
“The victim told officers he was shot while driving. He said he accelerated away from the shots and drove south on Marengo Avenue, striking a house and then blacking out,” Sanchez said.
The man was transported to a local area hospital where he was treated. Sanchez said the hospital staff indicated that the victim would likely survive his injuries.
The victim’s vehicle was also struck by gunfire and was found resting against the front porch of the residence located at 1318 N. Marengo Ave.
The victim did not provide much information to the investigators, Sanchez added.
