For the second consecutive week, a Pasadena City College football player received SCFA National Northern Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors. Freshman linebacker Jalyn Williams earned week No. 4 honors with his performance during the Lancers’ 20-12 conference-opening victory on September 27.
Williams, a 5-foot-11, 220-pound product of Los Angeles’ Cathedral High, made a team-high 10 tackles, including two sacks and a quarterback hurry. His fourth-quarter recovery a fumble led to PCC’s game-winning touchdown.
Williams’ selection follows PCC defensive back Marlon Dobbins selection for week No. 3.
The PCC defense has allowed only two touchdowns against in the past nine quarters (one other TD was allowed on an offensive fumble).
The Lancers (2-2) will host regional No. 7-ranked Cerritos College (2-2) on Saturday, Oct. 4 in a 6 p.m. conference kickoff at Robinson Stadium.
