The Altadena Town Council, which serves as an advisory body to District 5 Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, has set two dates for the election of eight council members – one from each of the unincorporated community’s census tracts.
Voting is from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday and continues from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Given the small field of candidates, now might be a good time for the civic-minded to consider a stint in public office.
Twelve candidates are running for election this year. However, census tract 4602 doesn’t have any candidates, and tracts 4603.01, 4603.02 and 4610 have single candidates running for re-election. Tracts 4601, 4611 and 4612 have races with two candidates, and tract 4613 has three, according to altadenaelections.org.
A profile of each candidate is published on the Candidates Page of www.altadenaelection.org/
Altadena voters can cast their ballots at any of three voting locations: The Altadena Main Library at 600 E. Mariposa St., the Bob Lucas Memorial Library at 2659 Lincoln Ave., and Patticakes Bakery and Coffee House at 1900 Allen Ave.
The Town Council also needs volunteers to work the polls during election days. Volunteers can sign up at www.altadenatowncouncil.org/
