Honda will lead the 134th Rose Parade floats on January 2 with the company’s vision of the all-electric very-near-future of transportation by showcasing a brand-new electric motorcycle, all-electric SUV, an electrified race car — even an electric flying mobility vehicle.

Honda’s “Forever Determined” float marks the 13th time that Honda has led all floats as at the Rose Parade but the first time a Honda float has served as the stage for the Parade’s “Opening Spectacular.”

The float highlights new initiatives that Honda is taking on as it prepares for an all-electric future.

“The 2023 Honda Rose Parade float will feature a range of innovative mobility products and future mobility initiatives, showcasing Honda’s preparation for an all-electric future – from the road to the racetrack to the skies,” a Honda company spokesperson said.

“The float will include Honda Prologue, Honda’s first all-electric SUV arriving in 2024, the Acura ARX-06 electrified race car which will soon compete in the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona in January, a Honda electric motorcycle, the HondaJet Elite II, the fastest, farthest and highest-flying aircraft in its class [but which is not electric—Editor] and the Honda eVTOL electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft initiative, which is a key part of Honda’s future mobility ecosystem,” a company spokesperson said.

Honda is pursuing the global goal of carbon neutrality for all products by 2050, including a vision of achieving 100% all-electric vehicle sales in North America by 2040, the company said in a statement.

“Honda is looking forward to leading the 134th Rose Parade with our ‘Forever Determined’ float,” said Jessika Laudermilk, Assistant Vice President of Marketing at Honda.

“It will showcase Honda’s commitment to making people’s lives better by constantly advancing mobility through innovative ideas and the sheer determination of our engineers.”

According to Laudermilk, Honda vehicles that will be featured on the “Forever Determined” float, include Prologue, Honda’s first all-electric SUV arriving in 2024, and the Acura ARX-06 electrified race car, which will compete in the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona in January.

The float will also feature a Honda electric motorcycle, the HondaJet Elite II, which is the fastest, farthest and highest-flying aircraft in its class, and Honda eVTOL (electric take-off and landing aircraft), which will fly on a new layer of the sky that is much closer to the ground than the existing layer used by airplanes and is a key part of Honda’s future “mobility ecosystem.”

Additionally, the public will see the all-new hybrid-electric 2023 Honda CR-V hybrid as the Rose Parade’s Pace Car. The all-new 2023 Honda Pilot TrailSport serves as the Sound Car for the Rose Parade.

For the first time, Honda’s float will serve as the stage for the “Opening Spectacular.”

Performances from multi-platinum artists including Fitz and The Tantrums will be featured at the float.

They will be joined by youth singers and the Rose Parade Youth Dance Group, a collection of talented youth dancers.

As Presenting Sponsor of the Rose Parade, Honda will also provide over 130 additional vehicles, including PCX Scooters and Honda Side-by-Side Utility Terrain Vehicles, for parade operations.

“The scooters provided for 2023 are not electric.”

Honda has been working with the Tournament of Roses for parade operations for over 60 years.

It began providing scooters to the Tournament of Roses in 1961 and automobiles in 1994 and became the Rose Parade’s first-ever presenting sponsor in 2011.

“The partnership between Honda and Tournament of Roses is very important to us and we have been working closely together for over 60 years, helping to bring the Southern California community together and providing entertainment and tradition to people around the world,” Laudermilk remarked.
