During the week of August 5-9, 2013, the Pasadena Police Department and Pasadena Fire Department in conjunction with the Pasadena Unified School District, conducted Active Shooter training at Washington Middle School in
Pasadena.
First Responders worked through mock active shooter scenarios that simulate the realistic problems associated with emergency response and the management of these high risk and dynamic situations.
The training occurred each day between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. The school office was be open for business, but school was not in session. To ensure public safety is maintained, public access was restricted to the training site on campus.
“The Pasadena Police and Fire Departments and Pasadena Unified School District are committed to maintaining community safety, especially in our schools. Training scenarios like this are essential for preparedness,†Police Chief Phillip Sanchez said.
