Abandoned Hamsters Find New Homes Through Pasadena Humane

Eighteen hamsters that were found abandoned outside a Pasadena grocery store last month, as well as 10 more they have given birth to since then, have begun finding permanent homes through Pasadena Humane, according to the organization.

The animals were discovered on Jan. 27 inside a cage left outside of the Sprout’s store at 39 N. Rosemead Blvd., said Pasadena Humane spokesman Jack Hagerman.

The group grew to 21, then 28, as two of the hamsters gave birth, the agency said via social media.

Pasadena Humane announced the hamsters were available for adoption last week.

On Monday, the organization published photos on its Twitter account showing the hamsters going home with their new families.

“It’s been so wonderful seeing so many of them find their homes,” Pasadena Humane said in a Tweet. “We love taking first photos of adopters with their new family members, and hamsters are no exception.”
