An Artful Worship

Pastor combines his entertainment skills with his calling for the Holidays

Worship and the arts join together in the Holiday spirit at Pasadena’s HRock Church this Christmas, as Pastor Gabe Ahn’s short play, “Second Chances,” is performed as part of the regular church service on December 22.

Ahn, the son of HRock’s Senior Pastor Che Ahn, naturally grew up in a church environment, but the ministry wasn’t his only calling. He was moving ahead full speed with an acting career when he had an encounter with God and chose to follow his heart to pursue revival for his generation.

But then a second serious revelation in Ahn’s life soon took place—Christian ministry and the world of entertainment did not have to be mutually exclusive.

“What the Lord has beautifully done,” says Ahn, “is allow me to step out again to pursue my passion in the industry as an artist. Now, more than acting, I have a heart for writing, directing and producing.”

On December 22, worshippers at HRock will have a chance to witness that merger of callings. Ahn’s short play will feature six actors and will last about 15 minutes.

“It’s a Gospel that’s done in a creative way,” Ahn explained.

“Really, all the glory goes to the Lord,” says Ahn. “I got my inspiration from the Creator, so I just wanted to make sure that all the glory goes to Him.”

HRock is located at the historic Ambassador Auditorium, 131 South Saint John Avenue. Sunday services are at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., (626) 794-1199 or for more information, visit www.hrockchurch.com.
