Protesters demonstrating again police brutality gathered Thursday afternoon in Brenner Park on Mountain Street in northwest Pasadena, where they voted down a proposed Rose Bowl demonstration and instead to head to Los Angeles to join #OccupyLAPD.
The group appears to be many of the same demonstrators who during the Rose Parade this morning had positioned themselves along the parade route at Marengo Avenue and faced off against Los Angeles County Sheriffs deputies.
“Black lives, they matter here,†the group chanted as they waved signs decrying recent shooting deaths of black men by police, including Kendrec McDade by the Pasadena Police department.
As the group neared the parade they pulled out a large banner with the words, “2015, This is OUR YEAR, This is NOT A MOMENT, This IS A MOVEMENT, #BLACKLIVESMATTER.â€
The protesters appear to be affiliated with protests against police killings being staged across the United States under a movement known as Black Lives Matter.
It is not known if members affiliated with this protest were among the seven detained during the Rose Parade for interfering with a special event.
Four were detained at Marengo Avenue and Colorado Boulevard and three near the TV stands on Colorado Boulevard at Orange Grove Avenue, the cited to be released, Pasadena Police Commanfer John Perez said.
