[UPDATED] Applications for Pasadena’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program, which can provide up to three months of past due rent for eligible participants, is set to open next week.

Applications will be accepted online at www.cityofpasadena.net/housing/emergency-rental-assistance-program/. The application period officially opens on July 15, the Pasadena Department of Housing said in a written statement.

“This program is NOT first-come, first-served,” the statement said. “Each application will be scored and ranked based on household data submitted in the application.”

The program was expected to help 225 households, as funding allows, according to the department.

“The highest ranking applications will be contacted within five business days after the application window closes,” the statement said.

Under the ERA Program, eligible households that suffered financial losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic may receive grants for up to three months worth of overdue rent, not to exceed $4,500, city officials said.

Pasadena’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program is available to Pasadena renters with current leases and who have notified their landlords of inability to pay due to the pandemic.
