An arson spree between 2:30 to 3:30 a.m. this morning at five different locations within a mile radius caused burn and water damage but no injuries, a Pasadena Fire Dept. spokesperson said.
In Edmonson Alley, three large dumpsters were set ablaze. Responding engine companies saw additional fires as they extinguished the original call, and even more were called in drivers.
“One set off the fire alarm and sprinklers at a building and others that if not contained could have affected adjacent structures or the homeless population in the area,” Fire Dept. spokesperson Lisa Derderian reported.
She said the area hit by the arson fires was approximately from Fillmore Street to Del Mar and California Boulevard to South Raymond Avenue.
A Pasadena arson investigator is “following up on leads to hopefully get information to the public or make an arrest — since this person as no regard for public safety,” Derderian said.
