Assault in Old Pasadena: Man Beaten and Cut by Rowdy Group

Pasadena Police officers arrested a 25-year-old Los Angeles resident for assault with a deadly weapon after he figured in a fight outside a club in Old Pasadena early Friday.

Lt. John Mercado said the suspect was part of a group that had a verbal argument with a Baldwin Park resident inside a club in the 100 block of East Colorado Boulevard at about 1:30 a.m. Friday.

Mercado said the arguing parties were escorted by security out of the club, but once outside, a fight broke out between the victim and the suspects.

“During the fight, the victim was hit numerous times in the head and face and suffered cuts to his lip and a swollen face,” Mercado said. “The suspects fled after the fight, and officers located one of them as he was leaving the scene. He was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, the others are at large.”

Mercado identified the arrested suspect as Leonardo Roque-Cruz, 25, of Los Angeles. He is now in custody.

Investigators were talking with witnesses at the scene to get information about the other suspects.

Mercado said the victim, who was quite intoxicated at the time of the attack, was transported to a local area hospital.
