Attackers Sneak Up Behind Victim, Steal High-End Sneakers

Four suspects robbed a 30-year-old man of four pairs of expensive sneakers he had put up for sale on the internet in a strong-arm robbery Thursday in East Pasadena, Pasadena police said.

The victim suffered a cut on his lower lip when the suspects ganged up on him after he tried to pursue them as they were fleeing the scene after grabbing the shoes.

Pasadena Police Lt. John Mercado said the victim had earlier advertised the four pairs of shoes for sale on the internet, and went out to meet a prospective buyer.

“He agreed to meet the buyer at Colorado Blvd. and San Marino Avenue,” Mercado said. “When he arrived, he initially met two men, and he agreed for them to look at the tennis shoes. While they were checking the shoes, another pair of suspects appeared from behind and physically assaulted the victim.”

As the assault was going on, the first two suspects grabbed the four pairs of shoes and ran off. The other two suspects followed a short time later, Mercado said.

Police did not recover the shoes and have not found any of the suspects.

Mercado described them as all Hispanic. One of them was about 18 years old, five feet six inches to five feet seven inches tall, about 150 pounds and had black hair and brown eyes. The second suspect was in his early 20s, about five feet five inches tall, approximately 130 pounds and wearing a grey t-shirt and jeans.

The third and fourth suspects were about 18 to 22 years old, between five feet four inches and five feet seven tall; both were wearing light colored t-shirts, Mercado said.

Mercado said the victim did not require medical attention.
