Attending a Pasadena Unified Graduation? Time to Mask Up Again

Published on Monday, May 23, 2022 | 5:00 am

The Pasadena Unified School District is now requiring the use of masks indoors and outdoors for visitors and volunteers visiting any PUSD school or attending a PUSD promotion or graduation event up to June 3.

This was after PUSD noted “an increase in positive cases among PUSD schools” over the past few weeks.

A PUSD Health Programs Update issued Thursday also cited the rise in COVID-19 transmission rates in Los Angeles County as another reason why mask requirements are being updated.

PUSD’s online COVID-19 Dashboard showed the school district recorded 22 new student cases between May 15 and May 20, six new cases among school site staff, and one new case among District office staff.

This past week, the case count was a slight improvement from the previous week, May 9 to 13, which noted 45 new student cases and eight new cases among PUSD staff.

PUSD also reminded students and staff who have been exposed to COVID-19 cases to continue wearing masks for 10 days from the date of exposure.

“Transmission rates and PUSD protocols will be continually reviewed over the summer,” PUSD said in the update. “We will remain vigilant and continue to take steps to ensure that everyone stays healthy.”
