“Authentically Yours, Pasadena” Shines Spotlight on Small and Independent Businesses for Holiday Shopping Season

Published on Friday, November 10, 2023 | 6:33 am

The City of Pasadena and Visit Pasadena have announced this year’s holiday season campaign, “Authentically Yours, Pasadena,” to celebrate small and independent local businesses. The campaign kicks off on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 25, with welcome stations at 25 small businesses across the city to inspire visitors and community members to shop small and dine local. Welcome stations will be stocked with canvas shopping totes, gifted on a first-come, first-served basis. The goal of “Authentically Yours, Pasadena” is to encourage residents and visitors to promote economic growth, job creation, and community cohesion while maintaining unique and diverse local markets by choosing to support locally-owned businesses.

“The Authentically Yours, Pasadena campaign amplifies the people, places and great finds that give Pasadena its vibrancy and personal flavor,” said David Klug, City of Pasadena’s Economic Development Director. “Shop small and dine local to discover the special connections and one-of-a-kind treasures found only when you #ShopPasadena.”

“Pasadena is lucky to have so many wonderful locally-owned shops and eateries that make this city a beloved gathering place for celebrations, special events, and seasonal festivities,” said Kristin McGrath, Executive Director of Visit Pasadena. “During this joyful season, we encourage visitors and our Pasadena community to support local talented makers and curators. Come experience Pasadena’s authentic, local flavor while shopping for gifts and dining out.”

This year, the City is offering free bus shuttle rides on the Pasadena Transit on Friday, November 24, and Saturday, November 25, to promote shopping and dining locally this holiday season. For more information including bus schedules, maps, and real-time bus arrival information, please visit PasadenaTransit.net.

There are opportunities for local businesses to participate.

The City and Visit Pasadena will broaden the scope of business social media posts by sharing all campaign-related messages from businesses on their accounts during the holiday season.

Businesses are invited to participate in the “Authentically Yours” holiday shopping campaign by taking part in Instagram Takeovers on Saturday, Nov. 25. Campaign graphics are available for download.

Businesses have the option to apply a graphic overlay to their own business photos and share them on social media throughout the holiday season. For help with applying the graphic overlay, email your photo and a request to marketing@visitpasadena.com.

Businesses can also write a message of gratitude to the community on a postcard and share it on social media. Postcards will be supplied to any business that requests one. For more, contact marketing@visitpasadena.com.
