Pasadena Police announced the arrest of a bank robber nicknamed the “Baby Boomer Bandit.” Salvador Sanchez (Pasadena resident, 64 years) was arrested in the 800 block of N. Mentor Avenue after Detectives received tips from the community that he was living in the area.

Police Detectives, working with the F.B.I. have been searching for the suspect after several bank robberies occurred in Pasadena in June 2009. It is believed that this suspect is also responsible for armed bank robberies in the cities of San Gabriel and Rosemead.

“This is an excellent example of the tenacity of this department and its ability to solve crimes and partner with other agencies,” said Chief Melekian. “The Pasadena Police Department is gratified that no one has been hurt and that this person is now in Federal Custody. Anyone who thinks they may have additional information is encouraged to contact the Pasadena Police Department.”

Suspect Sanchez was released late yesterday to F.B.I. agents and is being held in the Federal Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles.
