Baby, It’s C-C-Cold Outside: Wind Chill Predicted to Push Some Pasadena Areas Into 30’s Wednesday Morning

Pasadena experienced a very chilly night and headed into a cold Wednmesday morning with the National Weather Service predicting wind chill would push some areas into the 30’s early in the day. A wind advisory for Pasadena remained in effect until 10 a.m.

Many interior San Gabriel Valley locations were experiencing temperatures in the mid 30s to mid 40s early Wednesday and were expected to continue to cool through daybreak. The NWS reported that the morning hours will be much colder, particularly in wind-sheltered areas.

North to northeast winds reaching 15 to 30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph were expected, according to the National Weather Service.

The cold air mass sitting over the area is forecast to remain in place through Thursday, followed by a warming trend into Friday. But another storm system is predicted to move over the region during the weekend, with light rainfall possible. The chilly temperatures are expected to continue into Tuesday.

The NWS also canceled a previously issued frost advisory for inland valleys, but a freeze watch remains in effect for the same areas from late Wednesday night through Thursday morning. The coldest temperatures are expected in wind-sheltered areas, where a freeze is more likely.

Looking ahead to the weekend and early next week, the precipitation chances are expected to dissipate from the forecast, and a cooling trend is likely to develop. The NWS also warns that gusty winds could develop for periods through Tuesday.

Here is the National Weather Service forecast as of 3:03 a.m. Wednesday:
