Bluebeam Employees Deliver Hundreds of Filled Backpacks to Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena Kids

Backpacks Delivered Just in Time for the New School Year

Children and teens at the Boys and Girls Club got a special surprise last Thursday when they pulled up in the car line at the Mackenzie-Scott Clubhouse on North Fair Oaks Avenue. Employees from Bluebeam, Inc., a Pasadena-based construction technology company, distributed over 200 backpacks filled with school supplies, enough for every child and teen attending the Club’s summer and fall programs.

Over 20 Bluebeam employees participated in the event in a variety of ways. Some employees filled the backpacks with school supplies and hand-written inspirational notes, and others staffed the car line and  distributed the backpacks to kids with wishes for a great school year. Each child was able to select his or her new backpack from a variety of colors. Every backpack contained critical school supplies that students need to start off the school year organized and prepared, including notebooks, pencils, pencil cases, highlighters, scissors, crayons, and more. Club alumni volunteers were also on hand to help coordinate the backpack distribution.

The event coincided with the last day of the Club’s in-person summer program, attended by 80 children and teens over eight weeks without a single COVID-19 outbreak. Plans are well underway for the Club’s fall in-person program beginning in late August.

“We are so touched by the outpouring of generosity from the Bluebeam employees. They helped our families in a huge way, saving them from having to hunt at various stores for school supplies and possibly becoming exposed to COVID-19 in the process. It was a great way to wrap up our summer program and a great start to the school year for our members,” said Anne Lee, Director of Development at the Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena.

“It was our absolute pleasure to work with the Boys and Girls Club on the backpack giveaway.  Our employees were so grateful to have the opportunity to help bring some encouragement to local families in this challenging season.” remarked Staci Armao, Senior Employee Experience Manager at Bluebeam, Inc.
