Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a bungling armed robber who tried to take money from a Pasadena business Saturday morning and actually left $20 of his money.

The suspect entered Pro Boxing in the 500 block of North Lake Ave. with an intention of buying some boxing tape, Pasadena police Sgt. Robert Tucker told the Pasadena Star-News.

The suspect gave the manager $20 to pay for the tape and then pulled out a handgun and ordered him to open the register, Tucker told the Star-News.

When the manager and the gunman were unable to open the register quickly enough, the suspect put away his handgun, left the store – leaving his $20 behind.  Police were notified of the crime about 8:30 a.m. Saturday. No injuries were reported, the newspaper reported.

Police described the suspect as a 5-foot, 7-to-9-inch tall black man about 20 years old and weighing 150 pounds.  He was last seen wearing a burgundy hooded sweat shirt and blue jeans.

Pasadena police asked anyone with any information regarding the attempted robbery or suspect to call them at (626) 744-4501.
