Burrito Express Offers New Menu Items, Plus Popular “Shavie Shack”

Burrito Express has been operating since 1978 and owner Wil Orozco says they continue to use the original time-taste-tested recipes that they’ve been using since the beginning.

Though the menu usually remains the same, once in a special while they add an item or two. (Most recently in the last five years we’ve added Carne Asada to our meat choices and Tortas to our menu, Orozco says.)

This year Burrito Express is launching something new: Fish Tacos!

“We’re taking Alaskan Pollock and dipping it in our beer batter and frying it in Canola oil to a golden crisp. We then top it with cabbage, tomatoes and our own white sauce and wrap it in 2 corn tortillas,” Orozco says.

They’re also offering a Fish Burrito, which has the fish, beans, cabbage, tomatoes and our white sauce wrapped in a flour tortilla.

“We are offering them for a limited time at his point, but if they’re received well, we may keep them on permanently,” he says.

Spring is here, and May is just around the corner, which means also that summer is close too. In May Burrito Express opens up their popular “Shavie Shack” and bring back “Shavies” for the summer.

What is a “Shavie”?

“Well, we take a block of ice and shave it to a soft snow consistency that just melts in your mouth,” says Orozco. “There’s ice cream at the bottom and we have 18 syrup flavors to pour onto the ice. Top it off with one of our toppings and you have an amazing treat.”

During May Shavies are offered only on the weekends Fridays 5:00 p.m. To 9:00 p.m. and Saturdays 12:00 p.m. To 9:00 p.m. then in June, Monday thru Friday 5:00 p.m. To 9:00 p.m. and Saturdays 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.until Summer is over.
