Caltech is inviting the community to join in an online dedication ceremony this Friday for its new Chen Neuroscience Research Building.
The online ceremony and celebration are scheduled for 3 p.m., according to Caltech.
The new building will is home to Caltech’s Chen Institute, founded with a $1 billion donation by Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen in 2016.
The construction journey began in December 2018 with a groundbreaking ceremony with donors Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen.
Since then, 67,000 cubic yards of dirt have been excavated, 2,100 steel beams have been put in place and 16,200 pounds of copper have been installed on the building façade, according to Caltech.
In less than two years the three-story, 150,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility is now home to labs and offices for more than a dozen principal investigators, a teaching lab and a 150-seat lecture hall.
“This virtual event will explore the building and celebrate the exciting work that will take place within its halls,” Caltech said via social media.
Those interested in taking part were asked to register online at cnrb2021.webflow.io to receive a confirmation email with further details.
