Caltech Women’s Tennis Freshman Kana Moriyama Named SCIAC Athlete of the Week

Caltech women’s tennis freshman Kana Moriyama (Redmond, Wash. / Redmond) has been named the SCIAC Female Athlete of the Week.

Moriyama went undefeated over four singles matches to lead Caltech on a five-match win streak this past week. The rookie pulled out a key three-set victory to start the week vs. Pacific and ended with another grinding 6-4, 7-5 win against No. 36 UT-Tyler. She also teamed with sophomore Erin Wang (Auburn, Calif. / Del Oro) to record three doubles victories, dropping only one match at No. 36 UT-Tyler.

Moriyama has now won six straight singles matches and leads the Beavers with eight dual victories this spring as the team sits at 6-5 overall and 6-1 against unranked NCAA opponents.
