Jonathan Weedman Appointed to Board of Directors of Camerata Pacifica

Appointment strengthens connections around Los Angeles

Camerata Pacifica on Thursday announced the appointment of Jonathan Weedman—a Los Angeles native and long-time Altadena resident—to its Board of Directors.

“I am delighted that Jonathan has joined our Board,” says President Randy Shulman. “His deep passion for both exceptional music and for expanding our reach into our communities to inspire others is palpable and very exciting.”

Artistic Director Adrian Spence adds, “In addition to being a culture maven, Jonathan significantly adds to the depth of knowledge and experience of our Board through his extensive background in non-profits and philanthropy. I’m thrilled that he is part of the Camerata Pacifica family.”

In addition to Santa Barbara and Ventura, Camerata Pacifica performs in two Los Angeles County communities – in San Marino at the Huntington Library, and in downtown Los Angeles at the Colburn School. Mr. Weedman’s participation strengthens the Camerata’s connections with its communities and builds the organization’s presence and visibility.

Mr. Weedman shared, “I am so excited to be a part of Camerata Pacifica. It is one of the great cultural treasures of our community that has brought inspiring music to thousands; and if you haven’t attended a Camerata concert – go!”

The 2021/22 season marks Camerata Pacifica’s 32nd concert season. The organization’s Board of Directors stands at 11 members with Mr. Weedman’s appointment.

About Jonathan Weedman

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Jonathan Weedman has enjoyed over 30 years of extensive professional experience working in the corporate, non-profit and community sectors. This includes today, as a consultant for non-profit organizations in the areas of fundraising, project development and management, Board recruitment and building strategic partnerships. Prior to that, Weedman served as the 6th Executive Director for Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles, a nationally recognized performing arts organization where under his leadership, he made significant contributions to strengthen the organization’s infrastructure, fundraising performance and advance GMCLA’s artistic achievements.

From 1996 to 2016, Weedman served as Senior Vice President for the Wells Fargo Foundation and directed the company’s philanthropic, volunteer and community engagement programs for the Southern California Region and the State of Arizona, with an annual contributions budget of over $20 million. He also served as Cultural Affairs Commissioner for the City of Los Angeles appointed by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and was Founding Chair of the Grand Park Foundation appointed by Supervisor Gloria Molina.

He has served on numerous Boards of Directors including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Colburn School and is Chair Emeritus of the Young Musicians Foundation. He currently serves on the Board of Muse/ique, Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles, California Heritage Museum, San Fernando Valley Master Chorale and is Chair Emeritus of the Young Musicians Foundation. He is also the host of the podcast, “Community Conversations” sponsored by the Outlook Newspaper Group featuring conversations with non-profit, foundation and business leaders from throughout Los Angeles. A third generation Californian and classically trained pianist, Weedman attended USC and UCLA, and is the grandson of former California Governor Goodwin Knight. He and his husband Raymundo Baltazar live in Altadena.

About Camerata Pacifica

Founded in 1990 by Artistic Director Adrian Spence, Camerata Pacifica has risen to become a major classical music presence across South California, performing regularly in Los Angeles, San Marino, Ventura, and Santa Barbara. Camerata Pacifica is known for its distinctive artistic vision and innovative programs, exploring the visceral intimacy and vitality of chamber music in performances by the world-class artists of the Camerata. Camerata Pacifica actively advances the chamber music art form by commissioning new music. Based on the well-documented positive effects of music in healing, The Nightingale Channel, launched in 2021 in a collaboration with UCLA Health, makes available an impressive archive of high-definition chamber music video recordings to hospital patients and care teams. These visually and musically stunning performances are captured during Camerata Pacifica performances and special recording sessions.
