Cancer Support Community San Gabriel Valley (CSCSGV) has opened its doors at its new permanent home in Sierra Madre. The 7,000-square foot facility was purchased in August 2022 through the “Be the Key” capital campaign.
The move to a permanent location will provide stability for the nonprofit, which previously faced annual rent increases, program disruptions, and repeated displacements due to lease expirations.
“We are thrilled to have a permanent home,” said CSC Executive Director Patricia Ostiller.
Ostiller highlighted the benefits of the new building, equipped with three group support rooms, an exercise room, a modern kitchen, a conference room, ample office and storage space, adjacent parking, a front lobby, and a tranquil backyard patio.
She also expressed deep gratitude towards the donors, board of directors, staff, and construction team for their indispensable roles in realizing this monumental move.
“Thanks to our relocation, we can now serve more cancer patients and their families,” she said.
The organization has already embarked on a community outreach initiative in Sierra Madre, labeled “Cancer Support in the Community”. The program involves weekly outings to local businesses such as Poppy Cake, Moo Creamery, and Tacos Ensenadas.
CSCSGV’s presence was notably felt during Sierra Madre’s 4th of July Parade, with locals extending a warm welcome to the organization. Now settled, the Cancer Support Community aims to reciprocate that welcome to all Sierra Madre residents seeking its services.
