Champion for Seniors Backs Phlunte’ Riddle for State Senate

Local advocate for seniors Margaret Belton, a commissioner for the Los Angeles County Commission for Older Adults*, has endorsed Phlunte’ Riddle for State Senate District 25, announced the Riddle campaign.

“Phlunte’ has nearly three decades of experience helping to keep our communities safe,” said Margaret Belton, a commissioner for the Los Angeles County Commission for Older Adults*. “As our next state senator, Phlunte’ would be the most prepared to strengthen protections for seniors and people with disabilities from elder abuse and fraud. We need her public safety leadership in the legislature.”

Local enforcement groups, including the Sierra Madre Police Association, Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Police Officer Association, Glendora Police Officer’s Association, Claremont Police Officer’s Association, and Pasadena Police Officer’s Association are supporting also supporting Riddle.

Riddle has the backing of the California’s Legislative Women’s Caucus and Legislative Black Caucus, the New Frontier Democratic Club, Foothill Communities Democratic Club of San Bernardino, The Mexican American Bar Association PAC, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, and the National Women’s Political Caucus of California.

She’s also picked up major endorsements from Congressmembers Judy Chu and Karen Bass, Assemblymembers Susan Bonilla, Cheryl Brown, Jim Cooper, Cristina Garcia, Chris Holden, Reggie Jones-Sawyer, and Dr. Shirley Weber, Senators Isadore Hall, Hannah-Beth Jackson, Connie Leyva, Carol Liu, and Holly Mitchell, Pasadena Councilmember John Kennedy, and Los Angeles Community College Trustee Sydney Kamlager.

Riddle resides in Pasadena with her husband of 37 years and is the mother of three adult sons. Riddle spent nearly 29 years rising through the ranks of the Pasadena Police Department to become the first woman to be permanently assigned as a gang/street narcotics officer and the first African American female sergeant and lieutenant. She retired as a lieutenant, serving as Public Information Officer & Adjutant to the Chief of Police.

Riddle is also an adjunct professor at Golden West College and owns a consulting company where she trains executives and helps solve communications challenges in organizations.

The 25th State Senate District encompasses the communities of Pasadena, Burbank, Glendale, Bradbury, Claremont, Duarte, Glendora, La Cañada-Flintridge, La Verne, Monrovia, San Dimas, San Marino, Sierra Madre, South Pasadena, Upland, Altadena, La Crescenta, Montrose, Atwater Village, and Sunland-Tujunga.
