A car slammed into a jackknifed big rig on the eastbound I-210 Foothill Freeway in Pasadena about 3:15 a.m. this morning, injuring a child and an adult.

The rain-slick roadway likely contributed to the cause of the multi-vehicle crash just west of Sierra Madre Villa Ave.

The big rig driver said he is lucky to be alive, according to media at the scene.

The driver of the big rig and an involved car were uninjured. The child transported to a local hospital was reportedly inside an SUV parked on the shoulder.

Both of the injured were transported to a local hospital, according to Pasadena Fire Dept. spokesperson Lisa Derderian.
