The city of Pasadena has more than 110 positions that have been vacant for more than a year, the city’s budget administrator reported this week.

These positions have a total of 68.41 full-time equivalents, 15.95 of them in the general fund and 52.46 of them in all other funds, according to a report from Budget Administrator Timothy Park.

A listing of the vacancies published in the City Manager’s Newsletter showed many for part-time police reserve officers in the Pasadena Police Department. A note in the list said the Police Department, due to numerous retirements of police officers in recent years, is prioritizing the hiring of full-time officers.

After more full-time officer positions have been filled, the department will actively recruit community members to become police officer reserves, the note said.

Some of the departments that have numerous vacancies listed in the report include the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, Pasadena Water and Power, the Department of Public Health, the Housing Department, and the Pasadena Public Library.

A small number of vacancies were listed in the City Manager’s Office, the Department of Information Technology, and the Department of Public Works.
