City Celebrates 5th Annual Pasadena Walktober

The City of Pasadena’s Department of Transportation, in partnership with Day One and Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition (PasCSC), invite the community to get out and WALK in October! Join us for guided walks, walking tours, and more community events throughout the month.

Walktober is a global event that encourages walking. Communities from Portland, Oregon, to Adelaide, Australia, organize a wide array of events that celebrate and bring awareness to the benefits of walking, be it for exercise, mental health, socializing, a cleaner environment, or just learning more about the community in which we live.

This year, the Department of Transportation, Day One and PasCSC partnered with local organizations and community members to host over 20 walking events in October. Whether you’re looking to meet new friends, explore local artworks, learn more about the history of Pasadena, or enjoy nature up close, there’s a walk for you. Highlights include:

  • Discover Birding with the Pasadena Audubon Society
    Saturday, Oct. 1 | 8 – 11:30 a.m.
  • Pasadena Heritage Tour of Old Pasadena South

Saturday, Oct. 8 | 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

  • Public Art in Pasadena

Sunday, Oct.9 | 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 19 | 5-7 p.m.

  • Discover the Arroyo Link, a proposed pedestrian and bicycle path between the City Center and the Arroyo

Sunday, Oct. 16 | 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

  • Howl-o-ween Dog Walk to Playhouse Village Park

Saturday, Oct. 22 | 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

  • Lower Arroyo Nature Walk

Sunday, Oct. 23 | 4 – 6: 30 p.m.

  • Guided Tour of Caltech’s Historic Campus

Saturday, Oct. 29 | 8:30 – 10:30 a.m.

City Council District Walks include:

  • The Pasadena Hollywood Backlot Tour with District 3 staff

Sunday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

  • Walk to the Gamble House with District 1 Councilmember Tyron Hampton

Saturday, Oct. 15 | 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

  • Route 66 – Explore East Colorado Boulevard with District 4 Councilmember Gene Masuda

Saturday, Oct. 15 | 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

  • Neighborhood Walk with Vice Mayor Andy Wilson

Saturday, Oct. 22 | 8 – 10:30 a.m.

  • Garden Tour of Washington Park with District 5 Councilmember Jessica Rivas

Sunday, Oct. 23 | 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

  • Taste of East Washington Village with District 2 Councilmember Felicia Williams

Saturday, Oct. 29 | noon – 3:30 p.m.

This is the first year that the City’s Department of Transportation is sponsoring Walktober. The department recognizes the hard work that PasCSC, its volunteers and partners have done to establish this annual event in Pasadena.
