Mark your calendar and set your alarms: The Pasadena City Council is scheduled to hold its annual joint meeting with Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger at 8 a.m. Wednesday, March 31.
The annual meeting usually addresses county issues and how they impact Pasadena, with one such possible subject of discussion being county distribution of federal funds received from the recent stimulus package.
Last week, Mayor Victor Gordo asked that rental assistance funds from the stimulus package be placed on the agenda. The city would receive the money from funds sent to the county.
“I’m concerned those dollars are going directly to the county and not cities like Pasadena that bore the burden,” Gordo said.
“The county does not have the best record of being responsive when it comes to resources entrusted to the county for the benefit of Pasadena,” Gordo said.
In 2019, Barger most notably addressed concerns about the sediment removal project underway in Hahamongna Watershed Park, the use of the weed killer Roundup in that area and in East Pasadena, and Measure H homelessness relief funds.
