Pasadena residents and businesses are reminded that City Hall and many City services and administrative offices will be closed Monday, July 5, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Specific closures and exceptions are noted below.

Pasadena Police and Fire Departments will be staffed for all patrol, jail, fire, paramedic and other emergency services, but administrative offices will be closed. If you see something, say something; report suspicious activity to Pasadena Police at (626) 744-4241. For life-threatening emergencies, dial 9-1-1.

Pasadena residents and businesses experiencing power emergencies should call the Pasadena Water and Power Department (PWP) at (626) 744-4673. For water-related emergencies, call (626) 744-4138. PWP’s regular Customer Call Center will be closed for the holiday, but customers can access their accounts and pay bills online at www.PWPweb.com or by calling (626) 744-4005.

The City will have trash collection on Monday, July 5. There will be no delay in trash, recycling and yard waste collection.

The City’s Citizen Service Center (CSC) will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Monday, July 5, and will return to normal hours, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Tuesday, July 6. CSC is available via the web and by calling (626) 744-7311.

The City’s Municipal Services Payment Center and Parking Office at City Hall will be closed. All parking meters not posted as a “No Parking” zone will be free on Sunday, July 4, and time limits will not be enforced. Violations for overnight parking, red curb parking, “No Parking” zones, and blocking fire hydrants will be enforced. Motorists are especially cautioned about parking restrictions in the Arroyo Seco area near Rose Bowl Stadium. All regular enforcement resumes Monday, July 5.

Pasadena Transit bus service and Dial-A-Ride transportation will not operate on Sunday, July 4, but will have regular service on Monday, July 5.

All Pasadena Public Libraries will be closed Sunday, July 4, and Monday, July 5. Community centers operated by the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department will also be closed July 4 and 5; however, all parks will be open for picnics, fun and play. No site reservations are accepted for the holiday.

The City of Pasadena wishes everyone a safe Fourth of July holiday. Remember, all fireworks are illegal in Pasadena. Violators are subject to arrest, having their vehicles impounded, and serving up to one year in jail with fines up to $50,000. Call Pasadena Police at (626) 744-4241 to report illegal fireworks and other suspicious activities. Residents may also use the Pasadena Citizen Service Center mobile app, available on Google Play and the App Store, to report illegal fireworks.

The City of Pasadena invites you to celebrate the Fourth of July responsibly and join us for the 95th annual AmericaFest at Rose Bowl Stadium, one of the best family-friendly celebrations and professional fireworks shows in Southern California. Although COVID-19 transmission in Pasadena remains low, the more severe and transmissible Delta variant has been identified in LA County. The CDC anticipates this variant will be the predominant strain in the US in the next few months. Initial evidence suggests that vaccination provides significant protection against illness from this variant, but much is still unknown. Health officials urge all individuals who are eligible to get vaccinated against COVID-19 do so as soon as possible. View a list of nearby vaccination locations.

Due to the uncertainty of the Delta variant and its effects, health officials also recommend that everyone—including vaccinated individuals—continue wearing masks in higher-risk situations, such as indoors in public places where you don’t know everyone’s vaccination status.
