City Releases Map to Help Paradegoers Get Around, Understand Parking Rules

City officials have released a “Public Access Map” ahead of the Rose Parade to help parade-goers navigate publicly accessible areas, parking information and time frames.

The Public Access Map demarcates four key areas (A, B, C, and D), each with specific public access times from December 31st to January 2nd. It highlights street closures, alternative routes, parking details, and emergency contacts, ensuring a seamless celebration. 

Officials have encouraged parade-goers are encouraged to consult the map and adhere to the guidelines for a memorable and safe New Year’s experience in the vibrant streets of Pasadena.

Here’s detailed information about each designated Area:

AREA A
December 31st 8 pm – January 1st 2 pm
Areas south of Green St. and Between Grand Ave. & Pasadena Ave.
Local resident access will maintained with the appropriate pass. Orange Grove Blvd. between Colorado & Columbia will be closed to all vehicular traffic

AREA B
December 31st 10 pm – January 1st 2 pm
Colorado Blvd., Sierra Madre Blvd., & adjacent streets (one block north & south)
NEW INFORMATION: Two segments of Colorado Blvd. (Pasadena Ave. to Delacy Ave. and Marengo Ave. to Euclid Ave.) will close at 8 pm. The remainder of the parade route closes to thru traffic at 10 pm on 12/31, cross traffic will be maintained at crossing points thru 6 am on 1/1. Between 6 am – 2 pm on 1/1, crossings will be for emergency vehicles only. Note: Colorado Street Bridge will close beginning at 8 pm on 12/31 and will re-open with the rest of Colorado Blvd. on 1/1.

AREA C
December 31st 3 pm – January 2nd 5 am 
Area north of Orange Grove Blvd. & in between Altadena Drive & Sierra Madre Villa
Local resident access will be maintained with the appropriate pass during Post Parade event days. Sierra Madre Blvd. & Washington Blvd. will be closed to thru traffic on 12/31 3 p.m. – 1/2 5 a.m.; however local access via Northbound Sierra Madre Blvd. will be maintained during Post Parade on 1/1 & 1/2. Note: Be aware of posted signs (temporary and fixed) with additional parking restrictions on Altadena Drive & Orange Grove Blvd.

AREA D
January 1st 6 am – January 1st 11 p.m. 
Areas north of 134 fwy and west of 210 Fwy
Local resident access will be maintained with the appropriate pass. The Rose Bowl loop will be closed to general recreation use. Note: Be aware of posted signs (temporary and restricted) along Linda Vista Ave., South Arroyo Blvd., California Ave., Orange Grove Ave., and Walnut St. 

Officials said that to expedite travel in or through the downtown Pasadena area after 10 p.m. on 12/31, motorists should use Walnut Street or the 210 Freeway.

For east/west travel north of Colorado Blvd., use Del Mar Blvd. or Cordova St. for east/west travel south of Colorado Blvd. and the crossings noted on the map for north/south travel from 10 pm on 12/31 – 6 am on 1/1. 

Parkers, beware! Officials warn drivers to follow all dates/times of the “No Parking-Tow Away” signs posted throughout the City. 

Overnight parking restrictions will be lifted citywide from 12/23/23 – 1/3/24. During this time, overnight parking permits will not be required to park on city streets. All other parking restrictions and prohibitions will apply.
