Connect With Nature in Civilized Comfort at Rosedale

Mountainside master planned community in Azusa offers healthy serenity, beautifully constructed new homes and a sense of community

Spreading out across the sloping base of the foothills in Azusa, a master planned development called Rosedale is taking shape as clusters of beautiful new homes in a development that’s startling for its size, its newness, its striking neighborhoods and its attention to the concept of “community.”

“It’s a beautiful development, and we’re ever so proud of it,” said Adrian Foley, President, Brookfield Homes Southland, at Rosedale’s recent One Year Anniversary party.

Residents seem to agree. Many say they can feel the stress and tension of their frenzied professional lives melt away as they glide off the freeway and turn up the hill towards home each evening.

“Our residents live crazy busy lives frantically serving others,” says Carina Hathaway, Vice President of Marketing. “When they get off the freeway, they get this sense of peace. They get up here and they feel connected to the neighborhood.”

In fact, Hathaway says, living so close to nature in a quiet, healthy community is one of Rosedale top selling points. Amazingly, the freeway and the Metro Gold line make working in the city but living connected to nature a very easy feat.

By 2015, the Metro Gold line will actually be operating a station at the  foot of the Rosedale development. That station area will have a retail component, meaning residents will easily be able to park, tank up on coffee and get to work after a quick trip down the hill in the morning.

Rosedale’s eight new neighborhoods bring different atmospheres and price ranges. The new homes are all immaculately built, and with set-back garages and a variety of architectural styles, each mimicks the feel of California’s best traditional neighborhoods.

“With the diversity of home type here, you can move in here for under $300,000 or you ultimately buy a large detached home for $800 or $900,000,” Foley continues. “Rosedale’s got something for everybody, and that’s unusual as well. Most communities are exclusive and they don’t provide so much diversity for homebuyers.”

Rosedale’s offerings start with Sage Court, which are three-story townhomes at 1,346 to 2,092 square feet. These townhomes have from two to four bedrooms, up to four bathrooms and feature two car garages. They start from the low $300,000’s.

At the other end and higher up the hill with commanding views, Rosedale’s top of the line luxury residences, the Magnolia properties, offer up to 3,900 square feet holding from four to six bedrooms and 4.5 baths. These homes are offered from the low $700,000’s.

The final round of construction will undoubtedly see even larger estates.

One great feature which has evolved into essential components of the neighborhoods are what Rosedale refers to as resorts – essentially community centers with a clubhouse and meeting rooms, play areas for children, outdoor barbeque equipment and most have swimming pools. They really do feel like resorts!
“These resorts are pivotal – they really become the anchor of the community,” says Foley. “It’s fabulous for residents to use and enjoy them, and they’ve been a key part of our success.”

“There’s a sense of community, agrees Hathaway. “There a social infrastructure. Strangers become neighbors, neighbors become friends, friends become like family.”

Hathaway notes the neighborhood feel has attracted younger couples with families as well as older retired “move down” residents, who are tired of the effort and expense of maintaining older homes.

With brand-new dream countertops and appliances and Rosedale’s 10-year warranty, many residents say they feel as if they are getting a fabulous fresh start.

This place is magical, says Hathaway, leaning forward earnestly. “Really, our residents tell us, this place is magical.”
