Design Commission Set to Consider Final Design Review of New Medical Office Building at 650 S. Raymond Ave.

Pasadena’s Design Commission will deliberate Tuesday on an application for final design review of a proposed 39,274-square-foot, four-story medical office building at 650 S. Raymond Ave., near Huntington Hospital.

According to plans submitted to the Department of Planning and Community Development, the new building will have 2,934 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, 36,340 square feet of medical offices, and five levels of underground parking. 

The project site consists of a single 15,000-square-foot lot at the southeast corner of South Raymond Avenue and Pico Street. Currently standing on the site is a one-story non-historic industrial building constructed in 1965 that is marked for demolition. 

The eastern edge of the site adjoins the Metro Gold Line right-of-way. 

The Design Commission had previously deliberated on the project’s concept design and has seen conditions for approval submitted by the Planning Department. The commission approved the application for concept design review of the project on Feb. 11, although it set conditions before approval of the final design, including providing more detailed plans, elevations, sections, and color and material information for the project. 

The Planning Department said current drawings are now more fully detailed and present a palette of materials consistent with the design of the proposed structure. 

The plans show the project is owned by Pasadena Physicians and 650 S. Raymond LLC.

The meeting is at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23.
