Design Commission Will Review Two New Significant Developments

Pasadena’s Design Commission will deliberate Tuesday on two new development projects in the City: a proposed 72,000 square-foot, five-story mixed-use building with 49 dwelling units and 2,500 square feet of commercial space at 127 N. Madison Ave. and a mixed-use building with 54 residential units and 100,898 square feet of office space at 83 N. Lake Ave., both in the City’s Council District 3. 

Both projects are now in the Final Design Review phase of the City’s approval process, according to the Department of Housing and Community Development. 

The Department is recommending approval of both proposals, subject to conditions that staff have listed for the Design Commission earlier. These conditions will again be reviewed by Planning Department staff before a building permit is finally issued. 

A third project, proposing the demolition of a non-historic, two-story commercial building and the construction of a new four-story building at 1000 E. Walnut St. owned by the Salvation Army, is under the Concept Design Review phase and will also be discussed at the Design Commission Tuesday.
