The chart above was released by City Manager Michael Beck's office today. It compares January crime statistics across a number of years. Officials speaking with Pasadena Now did confirm that the homicide statistic is incorrect; the chart released above shows no change in January 2015 over January 2014. Officials indicate that is a typographical error; the actual change should be 100%.

January crime statistics compiled by the Pasadena Police Dept. were released by the City Manager’s office today in a report which showed, overall, only a modest 4% increase in the number of incidents over January of last year.

Three crimes jumped statistically – rape by 500% (with six this year and one last January); non-residential and non-commercial burglaries by 171% (with nineteen this January and only seven last year); and homicide by 100% (with one this year and none last January).

Domestic violence jumped sharply, spiking 40% over January a year ago.

Assault with a deadly weapon cases were up 18% in the same comparison.

Robberies dropped 27%, commercial burglaries dropped 36% and thefts were down 26%.
