An expungement clinic aimed at providing resources and support for individuals seeking a fresh start will be held on Tuesday, April 23 at Pasadena City College, according to a staff report provided by the event’s organizer, Brandon D. Lamar.

The clinic, which will run from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in room R122, is a collaborative effort between Lamar, The Flintridge Center, and CORE (Counseling and Resources for Education) at the college.

The event’s goal is to break the cycle of recidivism by addressing obstacles that individuals with criminal records face when seeking employment, housing, and professional licensing.

“We aim to empower individuals to overcome past mistakes and pursue their fullest potential through this opportunity,” Lamar said.

Attendees will receive guidance on determining their eligibility for expungement, completing and filing necessary court forms, and obtaining a free LiveScan fingerprinting service. Childcare will also be provided for those who need it.

“Having a criminal record can hinder opportunities for employment, housing, and professional advancement, but it should not define one’s future,” Lamar said.

The Flintridge Center and CORE have been actively working to address social and economic disparities within the community.
