Extra DUI Patrols Planned in Pasadena on Friday

Published on Monday, June 21, 2021 | 9:51 am

Additional police officers will be fielded on Friday to look for people driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs as part of the statewide “Know Your Limit” campaign, officials said.

During the extra patrol period, “officers will ask patrons how many drinks they have consumed and whether they believe it’s safe to drive,” Pasadena police said in a written statement. “Officers will provide information on the impacts of alcohol on one’s ability to drive, and the consequences of a DUI.”

The intention of the program is “to help people understand the effects of alcohol so they can make smart decisions about how they get home,” according to Cmdr. Mark Goodman. “It only takes a few drinks to impair, and that’s why it is important that people know their limit.”

Officers will also be on the lookout for intoxicated drivers, whether due to alcohol or drugs.

Funding for the campaign is being provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

  • Hopefully this DUI patrols news will at least remind a few drivers not to risk drinking and driving. Besides the primary safety factor, the cost to fightDUIcharges in court is higher than ever today under new state laws. With Uber and Lyft around there is no excuse for a DUI.
