Families Forward Learning Center Celebrated their 60th Anniversary with a Soirée Honoring Ellen and Harvey Knell on March 25, 2022 at the Altadena Town and Country Club. The evening celebrated Families Forward Learning Center’s 60 year history of providing free education and social services to low?income families with children from birth to five years old.
Guests enjoyed a varied silent auction while enjoying cocktails and nibbles. Dinner was served inside and out with a luscious buffet dinner. Many dignitaries gave their congratulations to Families Forward and Ellen and Harvey Knell, including Congresswoman Judy Chu, California State Senator Anthony Portantino and California State Representative Chris Holden.
The Knells were honored for their continued support and commitment to Families Forward Learning Center. The event featured a program lead by Master of Ceremonies, Gene Gleesen, highlighting the organization’s 60 years of service in Pasadena.
“This year’s Soirée will be particularly special, in addition to celebrating Ellen and Harvey Knell, we will be celebrating all our amazing donors and volunteers whose hard work and generosity has helped us empower underserved families for 60 years,” said Elva Sandoval, Executive Director.
Serving Pasadena since 1961, Families Forward services are based on a two?generation learning model that empowers both parents and children to gain knowledge and skills that improve outcomes for the entire family. FFLC ensures that children are safe, healthy and developmentally on?track, while enhancing parents’ skills, literacy and self?sufficiency so they can be active participants and advocates for their children’s education and their families. Families Forward Learning Center is located at 980 N. Fair Oaks Avenue in Pasadena.
