A U.S Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld a District Court decision that will secure a Pasadena-based lawyer’s $10.1 million attorney fees, stemming from a harassment case based in Long Beach.
Barrett Litt, of the Pasadena law firm of Kaye, McLane, Bednarski & Litt , represented Shirley Ann McClure in an action against the City of Long Beach, which allegedly harassed her and took retaliatory measures against her in operating facilities to treat patients with Alzheimer disease, forcing her into bankruptcy.
Litt obtained a $20 million settlement for McClure.
The Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Litt’s efforts on McClure’s behalf extended over a decade and there was no abuse of discretion in setting the attorney fees.
