The Great Plates program will continue according to city officials.

The state’s Great Plates Delivered program will continue.

Under the program, the city has partnered with 14 local restaurants to provide three home-delivered meals per day to qualifying older adults.

“This Program has enabled us to support seniors who may not have the means to have three meals a day delivered to them to sustain, said City  Additionally, we’re helping the family owned and operated and mom and pop restaurants who also hire from our community, buy product local and want to help our vulnerable population during these trying times”

The program was originally scheduled to run until June 10, but the state announced it will seek two additional 30-day extensions from FEMA which could extend the program to August.

Currently the program is set to end on July 10.

Great Plates Delivered helps adults 65 and older, and adults 60-64 who are at high risk from COVID-19 stay home and stay healthy, and provides essential economic stimulus to local businesses.

Local restaurants have taken a tremendous economic hit during the pandemic.

Program costs will be initially paid by the City, 75 percent of which will be eligible for reimbursement by FEMA and 18.75 percent by the state. Pasadena’s final share of the expense will be 6.25 percent.
