Pasadena firefighters rushed to a house in Pasadena Sunday at about 4:10 p.m. after receiving a report that someone was trapped inside a garage on fire at the residence.

The first unit to arrive on scene, Engine 33, reported smoke was showing from a detached garage at the residence in the 1900 black of North Madison Avenue and immediately went to work to find out the extent of the fire, Pasadena Fire Department Spokesperson Lisa Derderian said.

When firefighters opened the garage, they saw fire running the ceiling to the rear of the garage and initiated fire attack while conducting a search for the person reportedly trapped in the structure.

Derderian said they did not find anyone inside.

Other units arrived within minutes.

Derderian said the firefighters were able to control the fire by 4:21 p.m., about five minutes from the arrival of the first unit. No one was reported injured in the incident.

A Glendale arson investigator was assigned to assist the Pasadena Police Department with the investigation.

A total of 29 firefighters were on scene, with four fire engines, two ladder trucks, and a rescue ambulance. A unit from the Los Angeles County Fire Department was cancelled on scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Derderian said.
