First Congregational Church of Pasadena: Fall Church School

Fall Church School begins this Sunday Sept. 9th for the almost 40 children and youth on the church’ rolls! The church is pleased to have the nursery each week that opens at 9 a.m. as well as three church school classes for different ages under the care of Mrs. Phillips, Lu Burd, Regina Meyers and other adult assistants. The church’ Pre K/K class will meet in the church library every other week, staffed by Shannon Anderson, Marlene Pomeroy, Amy Story and other assistants.

Upcoming dates for that class are: Sept. 9 and 23rd . The Elementary Age class will meet weekly in Rm. 232 staffed by Krysty Leckrone, Roberta White, Grace Rinck and assistants. The Youth class for grades 6th-12th will meet in the youth lounge, led by Jeff Tyler, Andy Schwiebert, Jake Pomeroy and assistants Some weeks the older two classes will meet as a combined class. Many thanks to Aren Burd, Laura Kalayjian, Euni Sung, Judi Tyler, Andy Romine, Carolyn Mueller and Neva Orr for assisting this year.

A new feature this year is that once a month the youth class will meet upstairs during the Aspire Worship time with the Aspire youth. Andy S. will be in touch with youth parents about those details.

The church’ goal for the Sunday morning programming is to teach a Bible-based curriculum that allows the children and youth to engage the stories and themes from the Bible in an atmosphere of openness and spirited inquiry. As a progressive Christian Church the First Congregational Church is grounded in the Bible and the history of the Church, but also seek to find new ways to engage and interpret Scripture and apply these lessons to everyday lives.

The church hopes you will take a moment to thank one of the teachers and assistants for their support of the children and youth here at church.

A couple of other upcoming events for the church children and youth are an occasional Children’s Choir for younger children led by Connie Washburn. The church will hear the children sing in church on Sept. 30th. Also, Krysty Leckrone is planning another fabulous Christmas Pageant to be held on Dec. 23rd in worship. The church will keep everyone posted on other children and youth related events throughout the year.
