First United Methodist Church Holds Series Teaching Christianity

The First United Methodist Church (FUMC) Pasadena will hold a series of Fall SpiritSeekers’ to teach individuals the meaning of Christian disciple in the 21st Century.  Each session begins with a potluck (please bring a dish to share) and ends with a call to service.  The featured speakers include, Dr. Suchocki and Dr. Slessarev-Jamir, who will describe the scriptural, theological, and ethical bases for discipleship while members of FUMC and the local community share details of their work in mission.

Sunday, October 14 – FUMC Pasadena welcomes Dr. Marjorie Suchocki presenting her inspirational message “Discipleship:  Inside/Outside.”  Dr. Suchocki is a Professor of Theology, and Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean at Claremont School of Theology. Sunday, October 21 – FUMC hosts a conversation on how to answer the call to serve at First Church with Adopt-a-Social Worker, the Prayer Quilt Ministry, Shepherds, Sky Meadows Camp, Social Services, Union Station Sunday Meals.  A conversation on what it means to be a Christian Disciple in the 21st Cenury will be held at 5:30 pm in the church lounge.  FUMC Pasadena, 500 E. Sunday, November 4 –  FUMC Pasadena will discuss how to serve in this country and in the world.  Panel members will highlight numerous opportunities for mission under Volunteers in Mission (VIM) and United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), Project Tariro in Zimbabwe, Burning Churches, and US Disaster Response.
