Football Places 4 on SCFA All-NNC Second Team

The Pasadena City College football team had four players selected to the 2014 SCFA All-National Northern Conference Second Team. No Lancers were picked to the 32-player First Team.

Sophomore wide receiver J. Turner Jackson, sophomore defensive end Serge Vita, freshman outside linebacker Jalyn Williams, and sophomore cornerback Marlon Dobbins were picked to the 2nd team by conference head coaches.

Jackson was third in the entire SCFA in receiving as he caught 55 passes for 973 yards (17.7 per reception) and five touchdowns. He was seventh in the region in all-purpose yardage 134.6 yards per game. Jackson (A.B. Miller High, Fontana) is eighth on PCC’s all-time receptions list with 71and he is the ninth Lancer to reach 1,000 receiving yards (1,101) in his career. His 973 this year was the fourth highest mark in a single season.

On defense, Vita (who attended PCC’s Community Education Center) was a force as his 21 tackles for loss was second in the region. He was third on the team in overall tackles with 44. Vita led the Lancers in sacks (six), in quarterback hurries (seven), and in forced fumbles (three).

Dobbins (Dominguez High, Compton), who had 18 tackles, tied for the PCC lead in interceptions with three and led the squad in pass break-ups with nine. He also made a 68-yard fumble return. Williams (Cathedral High, Los Angeles) led the Lancers in overall tackles with 73 and recovered a team-best three fumbles. He added an interception, three sacks and six hurries.

The Lancers are directed by head coach Fred Fimbres, who completed his fourth year in charge of the football program.
