Four Pasadena Teams Excel at 2024 Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation Basketball Tournaments

Four Youth Sports Teams from Pasadena made it to the championship rounds of the  annual Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation (SCMAF) Youth Basketball Tournaments held on Saturday, March 23.

Three of the teams took first place in various divisions, a city announcement said – “A” Division 7th/8th Grade Girls Champions, “A” Division 7th/8th Grade Open Champions, and “B” Division 5th/6th Grade Open Champions.

Pasadena was also declared “C” Division 3rd/4th Grade Consolation Champions, the announcement said.

These teams are organized and trained by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) through its various youth sports programs, which provide “meaningful, lifelong lessons that carry into adulthood,” said PRCS Director Koko Panossian.

Competing against youth recreation programs from across Southern California, these PRCS teams demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, the announcement said.

“We are proud of Pasadena youths’ accomplishments and congratulate them on their triumphs,” Panossian said. “We recognize and appreciate the coaches who excel at fostering those lessons through team sports.”

The annual SCMAF Youth Basketball Tournaments provide a vital platform for youth in grades 3 through 8 to develop their athletic abilities and compete at a regional level.
