Four PCC Lancers Named To All-All-South Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Team

The 14th seeded Pasadena City College women’s basketball team placed four players on the the 2015-16 All-South Coast Conference North Division Team. Sophomore point guard Judith Espinoza and freshman forward Ilianna Blanc were named to the First Team while frosh guard Ella Stepanian and sophomore guard Kyrstin Nakamura were chosen to the Second Team.

The Lancers (17-13), who finished in a 3-way tie for second place in the SCC North, defeated Rio Hondo, 65-54, on Wednesday in Round 1 of the SoCal Regional Playoffs. PCC plays at No. 3 Ventura (26-4) on Saturday, Feb. 27 in a 7 p.m. Round 2 opening tip.

Espinoza led divisional players in scoring at 15.5 points per game and her 4.5 assists average led the SCC in the regular season. Espinoza is a two-time, All-SCC First Team selection and currently is No. 7 on the college’s all-time scoring list. Blanc averaged 8.9 points and 7.8 rebounds as she blossomed into a key post player.

Stepanian averaged 10.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists while Nakamura (8 ppg) was second in the entire SCC in 3-point baskets with 64.
