For the fourth consecutive day, the city reported no additional Coronavirus deaths.
On Monday, city officials reported six additional cases of the virus bringing the city’s total to 557. Meanwhile, the death toll continues to hold at 65.
The city has not reported a Coronavirus fatality since last Friday, the same day that low-risk businesses were allowed to reopen.
The city has been careful not to call the recurrence of no fatalities a “trend.”
“We’re encouraged by several days of not having to report deaths, yet we’re not confident in calling it a trend yet and still need people to abide by our safety protocols and directives” said City Spokesperson Lisa Derderian.
If the fatalities continue to be low or even non-recurring, it means that the spread has been contained in the city’s 16 long term health care facilities.
Almost all of the city’s Coronavirus fatalities have come from long term health care facilities.
Long term health care facilities have been ground zero around the country in the battle against the virus.
